The Recently Renovated & “Spruced” Up Country Chic Beach Cottage

Spruce Road…a perfect address and now perfect home for our awesome (and design tasteful!) clients, Hannah and Kelly.

I don’t think when Hannah and I met for the first time that she knew what she was in for! She came to us referred by a dear friend and client and Hannah, myself, and loan officer Jeff Gay met at the Lobby Coffee Bar to discuss all that was about to potentially happen. She wanted to buy a home. And, after months of looking, she could not find anything in her $250,000 price range that struck her eye and heart.

She decided that she wanted to purchase and renovate her first home with character and made custom for her. The grueling, but worthwhile & valuable process, was about to start.

Hannah and I were on a mission to find her “rehab-able” home with the potential we needed. We have extremely similar taste in design and could walk in and out of a home in minutes if it wasn’t “the right one.” We actually text video’d and photographed one potential fixer upper that I went through while she was at work (Hannah is a nurse.) But, we just didn’t feel that was the right one. We kept searching until we found it.

Stinky, dirty, old, abandoned, and dingy…the Spruce Road property in Port Republic (with water access!) was different. We both recognized it. So extremely unique/rare. A beachy, water privileged, yet country style ranch home with so much character already and great square footage. We knew this home was the one. A before and after of the exterior front…

What struck Hannah and I first was the potential it had to “open up” the floor plan (always difficult to envision.) And, the square footage was abundant for a home in Hannah’s price range. 3 Bedrooms, 2 Full Bathrooms, fenced yard, fantastic backyard renovated and custom designed all for her and for only $260k. And, the best part, which is why we do what we do for others…it appraised at $310k. $50k higher than sale price!

It was a challenge trying to choose tile and vanities within a decent budget for both bathrooms. We found a great sale on the tile in the hall bath, which allowed us to splurge a little on the carrara marble tile for the master bathroom!

For the bedrooms, Hannah really wanted hardwood floors in her Master and we were able to fit that in budget because we found the floors on sale for $3/sq ft (for real hardwood!) The bedrooms are all painted Worldly Grey by Sherwin Williams, Warm Silver Brand New Carpet, Gauntlet Grey accent wall in Master, and all have Designer Lighting from Build.com and Wayfair.com.

No doubt it was a challenging, hard-trekked journey with so many obstacles, but it has been so completely worth it. Hannah, her family, Rich and I worked so well together to make this happen. I can’t wait to watch her thrive in this home with her fiance for years to come! Love you, Hannah! And, thank you Jeff Gay for everything!

Wishing you

Jessica, you and your husband did an incredible job. It’s so beautiful and everything I want in our new home. Can you redo a home in Florida, lol. Jk… We will be moving after Rose gets settled in college next year. We will call you when we are ready to sell.
